Apple and Hermès today introduced the Apple Watch Hermès

Apple Watch Hermès Double Tour

The Apple Watch Hermès will sell like hell. I predict the Apple Watch Hermès will be the most sought after Christmas Gift 2015. Have a look and then tell me what you think …

Just to make it clear: I am still not looking at the Apple Watch or the Apple Watch Hermès as a watch! For me the Apple Watch remains a consumer electronic item, probably the best smartwatch on the market or simply a Bonsai-iPhone for the wrist. Tonight I am looking at the Apple Watch Hermès as a must-have-fashion-item, an IT-watch and believe me guys this Apple Watch will sell! Hermès is the turbo boost!

Jonathan Ive, Apple’s chief design officer said: “Apple and Hermès make very different products, but they reflect the deep appreciation of quality design. Both companies are motivated by a sincere pursuit of excellence and the desire to create something that is not compromised. Apple Watch Hermès is a true testament to that belief.”

Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Hermès’ executive vice president in charge of artistic direction, said: “At Hermès, we strive to provide our clients with elegant, creative and functional objects for their everyday lives. What more contemporary and relevant expression of this principle could there be than this collaboration with Apple. We are strongly united by the same deeply held ideas and principles. I see it as the establishment of an alliance in excellence; like horse and carriage, a perfect team.”

  • I strongly believe the Apple watch will be a must have item this Christmas and with a classic strap looks really cool.

  • You are right: This combo will sell! The price isn’t a problem. It’s just underlining the exclusivity. Don’t be an ostrich: The device is also a watch 🙂

    • Apple should have never called the device “watch”. Then everything would have been fine for me. That’s probably the best smartwatch, but still remains a consumer electronic good. The Apple Watch is not a watch in the traditional sense it’s a Bonsai-iPhone for the wrist, a wrist interface for the iPhone …

      • You are right, it is not a watch, it is simply an electronic device.

Watches like Rolex, Omega etc are handed over from one generation to the next, like I am using my father’s watches, but this device will become obsolete within a few years.

        • The device/watch will indeed be obsolete within a relative short time. So will a lot of watches like Swatch. Not that many watches are actually handed down to the next generations.

      • It is a “watch” simple and easy to read, especially at night.
I do not need nor want a smartwatch, but there are times I expect a watch that format and easy to read. Watchmaking masters think only of eddies and many complications, but who need a watch for the day-to-day or something simple design and that can be read both day and night.

What is lacking in the current watch, hybrids watches, with mechanical movement, but also a small battery to illuminate it at night, as digital watches.
I think this is the future!

      • I have to admit that given the number responses to your report it is a big deal in the minds of most folks including me. Apple is the most successful consumer electronics marketing machine out there.
Ok. I will peek in the Hermes window the next time I am in the City.
