Hublot, alongside UEFA yesterday announced that after UEFA EURO 2012 it is the “Official Licensed Watch” for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League for the next three years. This new collaboration with the best of the best club football competition represents the accomplishment of Hublot´s sporting strategy regarding football …

Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, said: “It is an immense honour and a privilege for Hublot to become a partner of the major club competitions organised by UEFA. The work we have already performed together is part of the long-term relationship that Hublot has built with UEFA. The brand fits perfectly with the prestigious and exciting nature of our top club competitions. We look forward to developing new bespoke timepieces together as well as of course seeing the newly designed fourth official boards in action.”

The underneath shown board is used by the fourth official to indicate additional time at the end of a match and player substitutions. The new design is directly inspired by a Hublot watch and the ultimate stage of the UEFA Champions League brand. The optimized design integrates ergonomic handling and a weight that has been strictly limited at every stage of its technical development to avoid unnecessary excess efforts. The carefully designed appearance makes it not only practical, but also beautiful in appearance with its styling that now blends together the features of a watch and the UEFA Champions League brand. The official launch of the UEFA Champions League board will take place during the first leg of Play-Off matches on the 18th August 2015.

Hublot also become the official UEFA Europa League watch partner, unveiling a specific fourth official board inspired by the new UEFA Europa League brand. This board will be used for all matches as of the group stage in the largest professional club football competition in the world.

Guys, like it or don´t like it … In my eyes this is clever guerilla-marketing! This is nothing else, one could not do better …

Millions of spectators in the stadiums and via TV will permanently see the Hublot-logo and in the future associate the flashy brand with football and glamour …

And do not forget: Official licensed watches for both competitions also from part of the rights and will be launched later in the season …

    have you seen a “special edition” patek or a “john doe” rolex or vacheron or langhe or breguet?

    I wanted to post this under the omega “rio 2016” article but I couldn’t, so I do it here with the article of the king of the thousand “special editions” brand.

    If you want to be taken seriously as a brand and rise to the ranks of the truly special horlogerie houses STOP THE “SPECIAL EDITIONS” named after a “famous person” that nobody will remember 10-15 years from now!!

    The same goes to Richard Mille that, for my dismay is full of nonsense editions despite having one of the best horloger savoir-faire in the business!

    But, alas, in the end is a business and I suppose this much hated by me special stupid editions of whatever watch sell better than a “normal” watch

    • to continue with my opinion, I doto continue with my opinion, in my book it is ok to market “X” watch as worn by “X” person, but to market a “x person “watch is silly.

      for example, take the monaco, we all associate it forever with steve mcqueen but the watch does not have his name anywhere.

      the omega “james bond” watch might be a little different, but at the most it only states 007 in the watch, but james is so embedded in our culture that is natural to do this.

      on the other hand, a $500,000 dollar “rafael nadal or usain bolt” Richard Mille is silly, who will remember those guys in 10 years??, it is ok for them to advertise it or to be ambassadors for the brand, but name the watch after them is a no no in my opinion.

      Would Bugatti Rolls -Royce or Ferrari brand a model after Floyd Mayweather even though he has tens of them? Of course not, the same should apply to watches.
      I´m a traditionalist and a purist, so here are my two cents.

  • For watching these matches on television you have. 10 dollar, before match/ middle of match/ after Martch it will a commercial by Mr Biver to millions of people in the world,, he knows how to get people into trap to buy Hublot 25000 USD watch,, how to get the demand higher than supply.
    I think the demand will be so high that Mr Biver is unable to deliver and all his shops will always be empty.

  • Hublot is one watch brand that knows extremely well the way to draw people’s attention and that’s why Hublot is involved with almost all popular international sports.

  • Mr Biver is the smartest person in the watch industry, he knows how to get attention, use football to get people to buy overpriced Hublot watches and looks like is working for him.
