Audemars Piguet – Interview with CEO François-Henry Bennahmias – SIHH 2015

François-Henry Bennahmias, CEO Audemars Piguet

This morning I met François-Henry Bennahmias and I asked him if he is planing to build a kind of ghettoblaster/sound machine for the wrist. I invite you to listen to our conversation …

The sound of the new Royal Oak Concept watch is amazing and the watch chimes loud. So Audemars Piguet pushes the limits… I have never before heard a minute repeater like this. By the way: If you want to hear the new Audemars Piguet click >>> HERE <<<

You will also hear us talking about the in-house built fully integrated chronograph calibre, that is almost ready to be finally produced…

    Hi Alex,

Long tome reader and first time poster here…

I have to say I was extremely disappointed with this entire interview. You were at best; not funny, and at worst; offensive. While I agree I would like to see AP re introduce some of the more classical lines (the only current AP I would purchase is the ‘jumbo’), the innovation involved in this new minute repeater is impressive in its own right. Your continuous use of the term ‘ghetto blaster’ diminishes these accomplishments. I wonder if you would have used this same tone/dialogue with some other brands?

Thank you nonetheless for all your tireless work this week,

Seems as you are just as uptight as Francois -Henry. Alex was not dismissive of the qualities of the piece. He was trying to communicate the ability of the chime to be rather loud just as most of the AP’s are, you know, hey look at me, I have an AP offshore. Now it will be, hey listen to me, I have an AP, … Come on, Alex was just as cool as he always is. If there is a ” hot” question asked, certainly any CEO worth his salt could handle it and turn that question around with dignity and elegance. F-M I thought was the embarrassing one!

    2. When you know how silent minute repeaters normally are the expression “ghetto blaster” is not negative at all, since they sound good and so does the AP… You probably misunderstood me…

I have never been a fan of the “modern day” AP ie offshore, rather a lover of
classical AP’s. Disappointing to hear Francois-Henry seemed disconnected
to the many, many requests of bringing back a classical line relative to the
design heritage of past decades. Yes he acknowledged there is something
in the pipeline but, nothing what we would expect… Good or bad, to be seen.
Now, I must say that Francois-Henry seems to be a rather uptight CEO and
quite a rude person with no sense of humor at all. He needs to drop his self righteous
attitude and chill out. A rather disappointing character representing a world class company if I must say so myself.

Agreed, perhaps he is not comfortable in his role as a master communicator
with the ability to discern a compliment from a negative. I thought your point was clear as the Swiss mountain air. I think it is wonderful that he is behind the minute repeater and hope it is a smashing success. I only hope he does not read this and view the word ” smashing” as a derogative… LOL
He does need to chill out a bit though.
Thank you for your reply, I do think no one will be offended with my comments, especially Ben and Francois – Henry
