Baselworld 2014: Interview with Breitling CEO Jean-Paul Girardin and unveiling the new Breitling Cockpit B50 that will only be presented in September at the Reno Air Races.

I “only” wanted to interview my friend Jean-Paul today, but then he showed me the Breitling Cockpit B50, the first in-house developed multifunctional quartz watch of Breitling

Last year Jean-Paul announced me that he is working on a new movement and so I thought this year I would see probably the first in-house produced Breitling mechanical three-hand-calibre. Before taping the interview today I learned that Breitling had developed a new in-house calibre, but it is the quartz calibre B50 offering a variety of useful functions for pilots, travelers and adventurers.

In my eyes Breitling here clearly again is ahead of time, since it offers a custom made instrument for professionals with selected functions helping and assisting those wearing the Cockpit B50.

Quartz multifunctional watches like the new Breitling will have a bright future and I am sure you can sell these watches. High-tech-Swiss made quartz watches not necessarily must look and feel cheap and therefore just be cheap.

I invite you and I recommend you to listen to this interview, it will definitively open up your eyes …

During the interview Jean-Paul Girardin describes a very useful function of the watch. These are the pictures that illustrate what he says. Without explaining to much, let me just state that Jean-Paul did not touch the watch… 🙂
