First exclusive interview with Daniel Riedo, the new CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre

Daniel Riedo, CEO Jaeger-LeCoultre

On the occasion of Jaeger-LeCoultre participating in the 70th Mostra Film Festival in Venice in Italy I had the chance to talk to Daniel Riedo.

Yes, it took me a while to get Daniel Riedo for this first exclusive interview. Finally we made it!

Of course you all know that Jérôme Lambert left Jaeger-LeCoultre to become the new CEO of Montblanc some months ago. What a challenge for my friend Jérôme!

His successor Daniel Riedo joined the Richemont Group two years ago coming from the Rolex Group, where he worked for more then 12 years for Rolex and Tudor.

The first step of Daniels’ career at Jaeger-LeCoultre was to be in charge of the entire production. The second step was to become the CEO. What a lucky guy! I am really jealous! That´s like a dream come true for a watch aficionado.

This was by the way the first thing I said to Daniel in my interview. I do now invite you to listen to it…

  • On Monday September 2nd 2013 there was no full moon. It was almost new moon. But I guess Mr. Riedo has more watches to set.

  • Dear Alexander

My watch ambitions is limited by lack of East African Dealership to maintaince of my quality fleet. How Baume & Mercier, Taugher, Mont Blanc considering and thinking of their consumers in this area ? Which has economy growing by 4-7% ! Rich on minerals and gases ?

    • There is not even one serious watchshop in Kampala because the rich Ugandans buy their watches in London or in New York, DUTY FREE

  • Dear Alexander, can you please explain the basic feature of the foudroyante seconds sub-dial on a rattraponte timepiece.I own a few fly-backs; yet the rattraponte feature coupled with the foudroyante seems to be more suited for an engineer. Can you please give me the plus & minus of this feature on a split-second watch? Thanks so much, Charles (charlz.rizzuto@Gmail.com)

  • Great interview, Alex! Thank you.

I’m very interested to see how Jaeger tackles the South American market.
