The HydroConquest 3-hands-models and the chronographs are a brain twister for the competitors. The question is: How can Longines deliver such a quality for such a price?
The Longines HydroConquest line is dedicated to men and women looking for a high performance timepiece that combines technical innovation and elegance. The new Longines line with new models in bright colours now will be delivered to the retailers.
Please do also listen to my interview with Longines President and CEO Walter von Känel which I taped during Baselworld. To get to it click HERE
“Diving watches ‘par excellence’, said Walter von Känel, “the HydroConquest series aims to become the preferred watch of divers and aquatic sports enthusiasts.”
With a screwed crown, a screw-down case back and the lateral crown protection, these timepieces assure a water-resistance of 30 bar (= 300 meters). All the models are equipped with indispensable safety devices such as a unidirectional rotating bezel colored in red, black or blue, hands coated with Super-LumiNova to make sure that the time can be read in all conditions and a bracelet with double safety diving folding clasp and diving extension.
These rigorous guarantees of uncompromising safety fit in with the harmony of the silent world. The performance of these models perfectly compliments the elegance that Longines stands for. The new Longines models of the HydroConquest line have a round steel case and a diameter of 39 mm or 41 mm. The 3-hands-models are equipped with an automatic or a quartz movement while the HydroConquest chronographs are available either with the L688 column-wheel movement exclusively developed for Longines by ETA or a quartz movement.
The dials in black, white or blue feature bright details in red and – depending on the model – 8 to 11 Arabic numerals. The bracelets are made of steel or rubber in black.
Whether it is to discover the mystic sea world or to have a sporty statement on the wrist, the new HydroConquest models with a touch of color perfectly represent Longines’ know-how in the world of sports.
And what is most important all these models are really affordable!

I wonder if you can let me know when these pieces will be released in the UK? I have had a L3.696.4.53.6 on order from a licensed retailer since early Nov! They keep moving the expected date back and I am getting increasing frustrated.
Also, why did Longines launch the watch in April 2013, but still have not released it? I luv the watch and can’t wait to get it, but am getting increasingly frustrated that it doesn’t seem to be released,
Those are really hot offers. Especially the Chronograph appeals to me, a very cool watch indeed!
Two minor design details I personally don’t like:
1) The sloped date between 4 and 5
2) The snowflake hour hand. I would prefer the same style as the minute hand.
I like this better than the enormous number 12 that they used to have previously, which seemed to be out of proportion to the dial. Very nice!
Alex I have to say as a diver this is one of the best pieces in the market as well as one of the best regarding price points. Tissot Touch is still my preferred one though.
The TISSOT T-Touch is not exactly the same type of watch but still a very interesting alternative…
Just think of the price of the Automatic Chronograph, with the exclusive caliber… Who can do better?
