Panerai and I invited a small group of followers of my blog and Panerai enthusiasts to join an exclusive presentation and lunch organized by Panerai last Friday during Munichtime.

Some of you might remember this post.

The ten offered places were gone in just a few hours…

Last Friday we finally met at the rooftop restaurant of the five-star Hotel Bayerischer Hof  http://www.bayerischerhof.de where Panerai always organizes its special exhibition during Munichtime.

Marcel Rössner, General Manager Officine Panerai Germany, Austria, Eastern Europe, responsible for 18 countries and I welcomed our guests. Then Marcel guided us through his universe and showed us some really interesting pieces of the actual Panerai collection.

After Marcel’s tour we sat down for lunch. Whilst enjoying delicious food served from the hotels kitchen we could put our hands on the newest Panerai timepieces; amongst them also the very exclusive Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days – 47mm “Paneristi Forever”.

Breathtaking!

Discussions started and lasted almost the entire afternoon. What a nice group we were!

For me and many others the big star of the day was Max. Max is Alexander´s son and Max is eleven years old. Max wants to become a watchmaker and guys believe me he all astonished us with his knowledge about Panerai and the watch industry.

Max, when you read this let me again tell you how cool you are! Chapeau!

Thank you all for coming! Thank you Panerai and Marcel & charming crew for organizing this wonderful afternoon for us!

For those who missed the event or registered to late, I promise you this was only the beginning. I will continue organizing events for you and I will step by step start doing this around the globe. Our community will continue to grow and there is much more to come.

Please enjoy the photos!

  • Very fine looking watch, the automatic with the power reserve indicator and date window . Let’s be honest here and admit that I will never be able to afford such a fine watch . So I went out and looked for a watch, auto with power reserve function and one that I could afford to buy . Believe me it was not easy to find such a watch but I did. It is easy enough to find an automatic watch but one that also has a power reserve indicator and at a price that I could afford, well that is another story. In all the stores I looked in there was just one store that carried such a watch and I purchased it. The price was $495 and I also ordered a watch winder for it on the internet and saved $100 by not buying one ( watch winder )in the store. The watch winder I wanted so that I could wear my other watches if I should choose to without the automatic stopping. It’s power reserve is only 36 hours. If one can buy a watch for $49 or even for only $10 then I don’t think my watch can be classified as a piece of junk seeing as it cost $495 and I can still wear it with some pride in ownership.

  • Thank you Panerai and thank you Alexander!

I really enjoyed this event. After Mister Rössner’s surprisingly comprehensive inroduction to the exihibition a delicious lunch was our setting for inspiring discussions on watches in general and on a number of exciting brand new Panerai models in particular which were handed around. That was a very pleasant company.

I returned to the rooftop terrace of the Bayerischer Hof in the night when a nice party organized by Panerai was taking place. Next day I went to the Panerai Boutique in Munich. What amazed me during all these occasions is the passion of the Panerai people. Each one of them knows every detail about each of their watches. And they get excited about all of them. And they love to share their passion. Judging from the models they were wearing you can expect that some are collectors themselves. This kind of identification with a profession is notable.

  • Alexander,

what a wonderful report! Thank you and the Panerai Team so much for giving us such a warm and wonderful welcome to the Panerai Universe. It really deepened our already strong links towards PANERAI.

    Thank you all so much
    regards
    Alexander
