SIHH 2014 – The Jaeger-LeCoultre novelties

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Chronograph Ceramic

Issued in a 500-piece limited edition, the Master Compressor Ceramic watch features the signature characteristic of all Master Compressor timepieces: Jaeger-LeCoultre’s patented compression key guaranteeing optimal water resistance. A single half-turn of this key effectively overcompresses one of the crown’s four toric gaskets and locks it in a security position that prevents any inadvertent handling.

The indications stand out clearly against the semi-matt black dial, ensuring the perfectly readability of each item of information. Two openworked luminescent hour and minute hands point to the markers arranged around the dial. They are accompanied by a bold red chronograph seconds hand, whereas the filigree-style second time- zone hand appears to stay deliberately in the background while maintaining perfect readability in order to ensure graphic respect for the strictly hierarchical order of information. To meet travellers’ requirements, the GMT function inspired by the Home Time/Travel Time concept developed by the Manufacture is complemented by the indispensable day/night indication appearing through a window just below the Jaeger-LeCoultre signature.

    Alex
My first sight of this forum, impressed by your posts and updates, thanks for so many informative articles aand images!
On JLC – ive long been a fan, following four generations of owners in the family, with pointed purchase last year of a Master World Geographic in titanium (Q152T440).
Slightly disappointed however, I think it might be too fragile for my needs – in terms of quality of build and manufacture, how would you rate a full 36k ElPrimero chronometer rated movement vs the JLC offerings? Should I be opting for a Master Compressor? Many thanks

Thanks alexander for all of your great reports from SIHH. I think JLC are very underrated as a manufacturer and the reversos are still relevant and extremely beautiful .

To me JLC ist the summit of watchmaking, the most impressive watch brand and company. IMHO they are ahead of PP, VC and AP. They produce a wide range of watches with fantastic own movements not only for the happy few, they have a lot of steel models at reasonable prices for folks like me. They are high class but down to earth with a great touch of understatement. The Master Ultra Thin without date is a timeless stunner, THE watch. The Reverso Day and Night ist just perfect. And what to say about the Duometer series? Want them all.

    1. JLC is still one of the most underestimated watch manufactures. JLC is extremely innovative and the JLC watches look good. VC is by far not as innovative and the PPC watches do not not look as good. I doubt your comment was serious. So in my eyes JLC is doing everything right.
