Rado HyperChrome Ceramic Touch Dual Timer Quartz

The HyperChrome Ceramic Touch Dual Timer is not only a good looking watch, but also a fantastic travel companion. Rado offers a second zone time function that can be easily set and used. The best is the so called zone time swap feature.

Let me in brief explain how the new Rado works…

The HyperChrome Ceramic Touch Dual Timer high-tech ceramic case has 6 sensors and the two sides of the case are the active touch zones.

The watch offers a 2nd zone time function, which is synchronised with the main one.

The first zone time is displayed on the main dial, the second zone time is displayed on the small dial at 6 o’clock.

The activation is always a two-step process to avoid any unwanted changes in time setting.

After activation slide your finger along the left hand side of the case to change the hours and on the right to change the minutes in quarter hour intervals. 15 minutes is the smallest difference between world time zones and the quartz movement in this new Rado watch makes changing this interval super simple as well as ultra quick. Technology has made possible what cannot be achieved with a mechanical watch: a 15 minute leap forward or back across zone times.

This is what you have to do to set the main zone time displayed on the main dial:

1. Touch the case at 10 o’clock until the minute hand on the main dial moves slightly. Immediately slide your finger along the right hand side of the case from top to bottom. The minute hand moves slightly again and the watch emits a small beep. Now the watch is activated and the zone time on the main dial can be set.

2. To set the hours slide your finger along the left hand side of the case (clockwise = + 1 hour, anti-clockwise = – 1 hour) To set the minutes slide your finger along the right hand side of the case (clockwise = + 1 minute, anti-clockwise = – 1 minute). In order to keep both zone times in synch, the minute hand on both dials will move during the setting process on the main dial.

3. To confirm the time setting and deactivate the watch touch the case at 10 o’clock or at 8 o’clock for 2 seconds. The watch emits two small beeps. Setting mode is now deactivated and the time cannot be changed accidentally.

This is what you have to do to set the second zone time, displayed on the small dial:

1. Touch the case at 8 o’clock until the minute hand on the small dial moves slightly. Immediately slide your finger along the right hand side of the case from top to bottom. The minute hand moves slightly again and the watch emits a small beep. Now the watch is activated and the zone time on the small dial can be set.

2. To set the hours slide your finger along the left hand side of the case (clockwise = + 1 hour, anti-clockwise = – 1 hour) To set the quarter hours (minimum possible time zone difference) slide your finger along the right hand side of the case (clockwise = + 1⁄4 hour, anti-clockwise = – 1⁄4 hour)

3. To confirm the time setting and deactivate the watch touch the case at 8 o’clock or at 10 o’clock for 2 seconds. The watch will emit two small beeps. Setting mode is now deactivated and the time cannot be changed accidentally.

If you want to make a zone time swap this is what you have to do:

When the watch is activated for either dial, you can change the time on the small dial to the main dial, and the time on the main dial to the small dial. To do this touch the case simultaneously at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock. The hands on both dials will move quickly and the exact time set on each dial will move to the other dial.

As mentioned: The perfect travel companion!

A very nice, austere watch. The time setting function is innovative, and the finishing superb (as expected of Rado ceramic watches). I don’t think it necessarily needs a date, after all you know very well whether the second time zone is ahead or behind your present location. I could have maybe taken 200-300 Euro off the MSRP, but I can’t really find any other faults in the watch.
