Zenith 2014 – exclusive pictures of first novelties and interview with CEO Jean-Frederic Dufour

Zenith El Primero 410 Steel 42 mm

Zenith 2014 again takes off with its El Primero chronograph caliber and its Elite automatic caliber. But as Jean-Fred Dufour told me it will be a calmer year.

Honestly who would have Zenith expected performing so strong after those crazy years with the former CEO Thierry Nataf. Since Jean-Fred Dufour took over Zenith five years ago the manufacture finally found back to its roots. Zenith was always producing high quality watches for fair prices and this is what Jean-Fred will now continue to do.

I invite you to listen to my interview with the Zenith-CEO and to directly hear from him what is going to be next, why this year will be calmer and telling me that he will also in the future keep the prices of his watches fair and moderate.

  • and alex sincerely tell me with an El Primero mechanism how long should be the service interval for maintanance. thanks

  • I think that Jean-Fred Dufour is the right man in the right place for Zenith. At last focus and resonable prices for a great brand.

  • I’m just happy they have “corrected” their subdial problems with this one; the overlapping subdials on other models make it difficult to read chronograph times accurately.

    • Broken record already ! It’s funny how one person complains about overlapping subdials, and then like a chain reaction, everybody else with no original thoughts of their own just repeats the same old rubbish. Zenith will continue to make watches with overlapping subdials I am sure. Firstly they look amazing, and secondly reading the elapsed time is not that difficult. It is not as if anyone uses chronograph watches to time 100m sprints. They have stop watches for that. Get over it.

  • The Zenith Captain Elite Central Second Steel 40 mm is an IWC Portuguese with central second hand. That’s more the just an elegant homage…. While I like the Zenith style in general, you feel too much that they are also targeting La Grande Maison JLC, especially their Master Control line. Historically Zenith was more original than that. But still, the watches are good looking…
