Black is beautiful! Black is still a dominant colour used for watch design. Tell me which one is your personal favorite

All the models you will discover here date from 2012 or earlier. Black definitively seems to be one of the designer’s favorite colors and I suppose this will not change this year either.

What´s your personal favorite? After viewing my selection please let me know! And, can anyone guess why I set the Porsche Design as the featured image?

Have really enjoyed reading this blog and have become quite hooked thanks Alexander. Thank goodness for online blogs in English as we don’t have many watch magazines here in New Zealand of objective quality. I’ve been quite impressed by what Montblanc have achieved with their Timewalker range. They seemed to have really upend their game!

I’m new to this blog and like it very much. Everything is to the point, no fluff and the photography is very nice. I really liked the video presentation on the JLC Duo-Time, it was extremely clear and made operating the watch look very easy.

As far as the black watches go, Based just on appearance, I’d have to go with the IWC.

    1. Welcome Jack! Thanks for your positive feedback and enjoy my blog. I will head to Basel in the next days, so you will be able to discover a lot of new watches here.

Stay tuned, don’t touch that dial 🙂

I like the simplicity of the Panerai along with the subtle but complimentary color scheme… although the (Minerva) in house calibre of the Montblanc is attractive.

I am new to WI and find it very enjoyable to read… Excellent work Herr Linz.

My favourite defenetly is the Porsche Design. I have the 25 years edition. The PD was the first black watch.

The IWC and the Montblanc are the standouts for me. But my personal favourite is the Zenith El Primero Retrotimer, would have been great to see it on the list too.

    1. Very nice watch the Zenith, but I did not even know the Retrotimer exists. It has not been introduced to our markets …

But, a very nice watch indeed!!!

It was never sold in my country either, I had to order it online from an authorised dealer. Wearing it today, a fantastic watch with a superb movement and dial.
