Impressions from the today´s America`s Cup Race

America´s Cup action today

You can watch the races either on TV or by using the America`s Cup App, but you will not see what I can show you. Enjoy my photos and 4 HD-videos.

Those of you who follow the America´s Cup races know that the Omega sponsored catamaran AC72 Emirates Team New Zealand (= ETNZ) is in the lead. Today Team New Zealand lost one race and the second race was abandoned due to too strong winds in the San Francisco Bay. But still the Kiwis are leading and they only need another three victories to win the America´s Cup. Omega’s association with Team New Zealand dates back to 1995 when Peter Blake became a brand ambassador. Dean Barker, the skipper of ETNZ with AC72, has carried on Sir Peter’s legacy with Team New Zealand. He has been an Omega brand ambassador since 2001. The ETNZ boat, the AC72, made its debut in July last year and Omega is proud that its logo is prominently featured on the jib, both hulls and the wing sail. The remarkable high-tech catamaran, which takes its name from its imposing length (72 feet/22 meters) is capable of reaching top speeds that are twice the wind speed.

Enough history and theory, please visit the official website of the America´s Cup to get all additional information you might need. Let´s now get to the impressions I can deliver you from today. The photos you see and the HD-videos you can watch here you will not see at the official America´s Cup website. So please enjoy my material and please keep your fingers crossed that the Kiwis win the America´s Cup.

Yes, I am a big fan of the Kiwis and I like their relaxed and cool way of doing their job. Guys, honestly I would also like them if no watch-sponsor at all would be on board. As a sailor they are simply my personal choice. But having Omega on board make the things even more pleasant … 🙂

May the Kiwis take the sailing’s most prestigious trophy back to the Southern Hemisphere!

Please do also have a look at my story I posted on June 26th about the AC 72 and the Omega Seamaster Diver ETNZ Limited Edition.
