It’s ladies’ time. My personal top 15 ladies watches 2013

Discover my personal choice of the most beautiful ladies timepieces presented this year.

A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Automatic

This is what I would call an understated luxury object. With its 37 mm diameter and the decent gem setting on the bezel the Saxonia Automatic looks just great. The lady wearing it will probably also enjoy the stunning beautiful automatic in-house caliber L086.1.

Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe

To celebrate the first 60 years of the Fifty Fathoms Blancpain also presented this white execution of the new Bathyscaphe. This is in my eyes up to date one of the coolest sport or divers watches for a stylish and sporty woman equipped with an in-house automatic caliber.

Breguet Héritage Phase de Lune

The latest masterpiece from Breguet dedicated to women. A watch that fascinates me, it combines the traditional values of a Breguet with a quite dynamic and progressive look. Well-done Breguet! No question the Héritage Phase de Lune is equipped with an in-house automatic caliber.

Bulgari – Bulgari Bulgari

Even though this Bulgari is supposed to be a men’s watch I think it is also a fantastic and cool women’s watch. The managers of the brand might not like what write here, but this is my personal opinion. The Bulgari is equipped with the first in-house automatic caliber of the brand.

Cartier Crash

Cartier presented this type of watch the first time in 1967. Since then it is the expression of something a bit crazy and absolutely cool. If a woman can afford to wear such a Cartier with a dazzling and sexy cocktail dress then she is above it all.

Chopard Happy Sport Medium Automatic

The Happy Sport celebrates its 20th anniversary. No doubt, the design meanwhile is cult. And, no one was able to copy it successfully up to date. So if you always liked the original, this year is a good occasion to buy a Happy Sport. By the way: this newest execution comes with an automatic caliber.

Glashütte Original Pavonina

A quite particular design you like or dislike at first sight. I have heard from different persons selling the watch that this is a timepiece you definitively must touch and feel to get the correct feeling for it. Anyhow it’s a good and positive step forward for the German watchmaker. The Pavonina is equipped with a quartz caliber.

Hermès Arceau Le Temps Suspendu

If the lady wearing this watch wants to get timeless for a while, she only needs to push the button at “2 o’clock”. The clever, in-house manufactured mechanism will then move the two hands to a neutral, timeless position at “12 o’clock”. In the background of course the movement continues to function normally. If the lady then needs to know the time, she just pushes the button again and as if by magic the two hands return to their correct position to show the actual time. Very cool! Chapeau!

Hublot Big Bang Carbon Bezel Baguette Blue Sapphires

A very sporty watch in a carbon case decorated with blue sapphires. That’s the antidote to a classical and old-fashioned dress watch. Worn on the wrist this Hublot is a powerful statement, underlining the distinguished taste of the woman showcasing it. The watch is equipped with an automatic chronograph caliber from Eta.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra thin Duoface

Another timepiece that also could be a men’s watch, but once again I believe it looks better on a women’s wrist. With its two dials the Reverso not only changes its look, but also offers a second zone-time indication for a globetrotter. The watch is equipped with an in-house hand wound caliber.

Omege Ladymatic

Omega´s real first ladies watch, since before the brand just turned men’s watches to women’s. In my eyes a real good-looking and absolutely reliable timepiece equipped with an in-house automatic caliber.

Panerai Radiomir 1940 Oro Rosso 42 mm

This is another real powerful statement on the wrist of a woman wearing this watch. Panerai reduced the size to 42 mm and fitted its hand-wound caliber P.999 in it. In my eyes this red gold Radiomir looks just gorgeous.

Piaget Altiplano Date

This is an ultra flat luxury timepiece for her demonstrating a distinguished taste. At a glance you will be not able to identify what she is wearing. The Altiplano Date is equipped with one of the flattest automatic calibers of the industry.

Rolex Day-Date

This is a ticking legend, an iconic watch, now also available with different colored dials. I personally like the blue one, since I think it would perfectly fit to an easy and cool lifestyle with jeans & co. A good buy that will also please the next generation.

Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Lady

The Patrimony Lady is an exquisite 36 mm luxury item for the wrist equipped with the stunning beautiful in-house hand-wound caliber “1400” of one of the oldest brands of the industry. She can admire the “1400” through a sapphire case back.

  • Hi Mr. Linz, I am in the market for a new watch that can be both a watch and an investment. I wanted to see what would be the resell value of these watches (not that I will sell them, more like something I can give to my child). The Lange you have listed here was my 2nd pick, but I asked the store if they can offer with it the bracelet band as it’s hot here, and leather gets sticky. Also, what are you thoughts on Patek Phillippe Ladies Calatrava 7119/1G-010 (1st pick), or the Piaget G0A37041 (3rd pick). Again, bottom line for me is which one you would consider as a good investment. Rather have a good watch I wear all the time than jewelry I wear every once in a while. Thanks for your help.

    • All watches mentioned are a good investment since they represent pure watchmaking. Please be spontaneous and choose the one you simply like mots. In case you will urgently have to sell a watch only very, very, very few watches keep their value. None of them is among this group just mentioned…

  • Good choices, specialy thoes “adapted” from men watches. The ladies that I see with smaller Panerai´s and IWC’s are always gorgeous and irradiating strong personality and good taste. It´s a statement of breaking the rules and not fear what others can say.

  • All I can offer is that I bought my wife-to-be the Omega Ladymatic and, for her next birthday; I want her to have the JLC Grand Reverso. Great choices, both, in my opinion. Thanks for the other great ideas, too. Hmmmm….

  • The panerai=manly, Cartier is hard to read. The blancpain is amazeballs. You asked us our thoughts of your choices. I’m just answering you. They are all lovely. Thanks Alexander

    • Of course there are many more watches I could have mentioned, it’s more difficult to make a choice of 15… And this choice just reflects a bit my taste and I like to see on a women’s wrist …

  • These are nice choices, still a bit manly. I love the Glaushütte & the AL&S from your picks.(Classique Reverso in not my fav, more the Jewellery-Rendez-vous) JDroz, JLC&VC are my favourite manufacture for ladies. Rolex perfectos for work. Oh & We can’t forget Swatch. Hurry Up, St.Nick! & yes the omega is lovely.
