Rolex Day-Date 40 with new calibre 3255, Yacht-Master with Oysterflex bracelet and Oyster Perpetual @ Baselworld 2015

Rolex Yacht-Master

In brief some first information about the new Rolex timepieces and many, many live taken pictures. More insight information will go online later… Sorry I can’t do more in the moment…

Rolex this year concentrates on the introduction of a completely overworked Day-Date 40 and its new Rolex Calibre 3255.

It is twice as precise, has a power reserve of 70 hours, introduces the new escapement called “Chronergy“, 14 patents protect it and the new movement is built out of 90 percent new components. I will later have more information online for you…

let me start with pictures showing you the new Rolex Day-Date 40

  • It seems Rolex Day-Date and Oyster Perpetual will remain forever.

Thanks a lot for fine report as well as fabulous pictures!

  • Gotta say one thing.

I hope Rolex never stops putting the cyclops on their watches. It adds so much visual character and charm to their watches. As well as history and brand DNA. Its one of my favorite aspects of my Rolex watches.

I say this because I read a lot of comments. And there is hardly any mention of the cyclops. The (vast majority of, imo) Rolex owners who appreciate the cyclops seldom voice it – instead they vote with their wallets.

Sometimes I read comments by people who “wish there wasn’t a cyclops” and that makes me wonder how much they know about/or appreciate the watches or their history. If one is adamant about not having a cyclops, there are actually easy ways to remove it from the watch crystal. But I’d recommend selecting a non-date Rolex (or another brand) instead.

  • I’m really happy to see Rolex return to more elegant and traditional aesthetics, while remaining modern.

    1. Yachtmaster with the beautiful case/lugs/matte dial/red letters.
    2. DD40 with the beautiful proportions of the 36mm DD. Stick and roman numerals that are slim and shapely. The DJ2 and DD2 had poor proportions and unappealing fat indices poorly suited to a non-sport model.
    3. OP that has such a pristine dial. Particularly loving the stick indices. The non-luminous sticks are a nice throwback to the older Rolexes. This watch is the surprise for me this year. Extremely beautiful.
