The Watch Art Patek Philippe Grand Exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London. I invite you to see dozens of pictures I took … (Part 1)

The Watch Art Patek Philippe Grand Exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London

The exhibition meanwhile attracted almost 40,000 people. It is the largest ever Patek Philippe exhibition presenting 400 exhibits throughout 21 themed rooms.

I had the chance to see the Watch Art Patek Philippe Grand Exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London last Thursday and I must tell you what I saw and experienced was just stunning, superb and never seen before. Through out my career the last 25 years I have not seen anything comparable.

At this point, even I know Charlene, Jasmina and Ignacio will not have the time to read this, I want to shout out: Well done, well done, unbelievable and thank you for the time you spent with me during my visit.

Jasmina Steele, International Communication Director of Patek Philippe told me: “The general public is fascinated by the world of Patek Philippe and is delighted to completely immerse themselves in the world of the last independent Swiss watch manufacture and to have the opportunity to learn about the craftsmanship and artisanship which goes into producing the timepieces which have been created by the company over so many years. Due to popular demand we will be extended the opening hours of the exhibition this weekend.”

So the Watch Art Patek Philippe Grand Exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery is today Saturday 6th June open from 09:00 to 20:00 – last admission at 19:00 and tomorrow Sunday 7th June: 09:00 to 16:00 – last admission at 15:30.

If you are in London and/or you can go there on a rather quick decision DO IT!

You will have access to over 400 exceptional timepieces distributed throughout more than twenty-one themed areas.

Amongst all the areas, the Royal Room is a very popular one. You can see more than 15 Royal timepieces from the Patek Philippe Museum collection and also the Ref. 4975/1G which belongs to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. That´s not a typographical error, the Queen has graciously given her permission for it to be exhibited at the Grand Exhibition.

The interactive room is also another popular space that has attracted many young people; I saw them spending a considerable amount of time in this space interacting with the watchmakers whilst they demonstrate their unique skills.

Another must see is the Rare Handcrafts Artisan room where visitors can see professional gem setters, engravers, enamellers and engine turning experts at work.

It is not exaggerated to formulate: This exhibition is providing the public with general knowledge about watchmaking and also more remarkable information about Patek Philippe.

After seeing this I seriously think that all other Swiss high-end-manufacturers should send a thank-you letter to Patek Philippe President Thierry Stern and his team.

No bookings or tickets are required; the entrance is of course free

Let me show you some pictures I took last Thursday…

  • Alexander,
Thank you for sharing this experience of something special. It is more than special, my words cannot describe how magnificent this event appears and the efforts put into bringing this to fruition.

    Thank you again,
    Michael P

  • I wished I had known about this earlier. Well worth a fast trip to London even from California.
The idea of a NY show is a good one.

    Thank you for the photos.

  • Sorry Jasmina Steele but PP is not the last independent swiss manufacture in the world.

Audemar Piguet just to name one….

    • Yes there are also others but PPC is in fact the last 100% family owned company in Switzerland. At AP not only the two families own equity stakes but also some private investors… So Jasmina did say the truth …

      • She should have said “family owned” if that’s what she meant.

Anyhow, thanks for the pics !

  • I am speechless.
Alexander, is there any chance this exhibition would ever make to North America?
Could you please ask your contacts at PP.

      • Thank you Alexander.
Please advertise the event in NA on your blog, if it is ever to happen.
I would even fly to London had I known about it in advance.
        Tom.

      • as I understand it, they will host a similar event in NY in a couple of years time and that will, in turn, be followed by another in Singapore a couple of years after NY. London was in fact there third city in which an exhibition was held (Dubai was first followed by Munich) but London was by far the largest that they have done thus far and Alexander is not in the least bit exaggerating either the magnitude or the scale of the London show. I went on 4 separate days and can say , with absolute honesty, that what Mr. Stern and his team did for the city of London and all watch lovers from around the world who came to the exhibition was a tremendous gift of generosity that will not be forgotten. It was truly outstanding all the way from the level of organisation up to the quality of the 400 pieces that were on display. I have never seen anything like it. BRAVO!!!
