When you have a thing for skeletonized watchches it’s hard to pass Roger Dubuis without having a look. Their iconic and unmistakable Roger Dubuis Excalibur collection is extended with this new model. Their inspiration for the new model clearly comes from the automotive world as they teamed up with Pirelli for the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli.
Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli
Coming with the unmistakable features and design of the Excalibur case. The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli comes in black titanium with either deep blue or pristine white accents. The skeletonised and fluted titanium black DLC bezel is complemented by a crown which is over-moulded with white or blue rubber depending on the model. Something that returns as matching stitching in the strap and on the sides of the skeletonized case.
Powered by the Roger Dubuis Calibre 820SQ this watch comes with an impressive 60 hour power reserve. The barrel is visible in the heart of the five pointed star which holds multiple components. On the top left you san see the micro rotor which powers the watch while you wear it. All the bridges look perfectly finished and come with bevelled edges. Around the dial you will find a minute track and screws have been used as hour markers. It’s actually nice to see the double functionality there without having dedicated hour markers as such. To finish off the blue (or white) theme the hour and minute hands are painted in the same colour scheme. Their base comes in black for added contrast.
Actual F1 raced Pirelli rubber
Whilst having the motto ‘Dare to be rare’ the straps for the new Excalibur Spider are partially made from Pirelli tires which have been actually used in Formula one races. Each watch comes a special certificate showing the info from the tyre manufacturer. The product number of the specific tyre which is used for the strap is imprinted in the rubber bracelet. On top of that the strap features the profile of a Pirelli CINTURATOTM intermediate tyre on the inside of the bracelet. The brand name of Pirelli also shows on the sapphire case-back. You’ld almost say it’s a must have for the watch loving F1 fans out there.
Limited to 88 pieces each the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli comes at a price tag of just over 70K.
