Sjöö Sandström is an upcoming brand. Some of you might not have heard about them yet as they are still mainly sold in Scandinavia, but that is something likely to change. These guys from Sweden are make some impressive watches. They date back to 1986 when they started in Stockholm where engineers and watch aficionados Christer Sjöö and Mikael Sandström teamed up. They asked themselves whether craftsmanship and high-tech innovation could be combined in one single watch. Honing their skills, they introduce their first watch in 1993, an elegant handmade watch that goes on to win the esteemed Excellent Swedish Design award in 1995. The big break however comes in 1997 with the introduction of the Chronolink Worldtimer UTC. During Baselworld me met up with them and got to see some novelties. As we are currently travelling in different time-zones we like to show you their Worldtimer.

ASSEMBLED BY HAND
All of the timepieces are assembled by hand at the Sjöö Sandström workshop in Stockholm. Since a watch consists of several hundred parts that must be tuned with exact precision, this is indeed a work for the perfectionists. Each Sjöö Sandström model is produced in small series and every timepiece is meticulously tested before release.
The new Worldtimer has been given a contemporary upgrade when it comes to the design of the case, dial and hands. The amount of super luminova to the index bars and hands has been increased for better legebility. The lugs on the case have been redesigned and also a new tapered rubber band has been added that is fitted with a stainless-steel folding buckle. From now on, the Worldtimer is a permanent addition to their collection. Available in two sizes, 36mm and 41mm and with four different dials. Black, grey, orange and white.
